:: If I would like to stay in a shared room, can I come to Kelea alone?
Yes, of course! If you are traveling solo, we will match you up with a great roommate. Many friendships have been formed at Kelea.

:: Can I bring my own surfboard?
Although Kelea has surfboards for you to choose from, if you are more comfortable with your own board, please bring it along.

Note: Don't forget that airlines charge extra for surfboards and if you are taking the Sansa flight to Tambor, they only accept boards on a space available basis, so you are taking a chance

:: What should I pack?
Here are some suggestions: several swim suits, sunscreen, running shoes, hat for sun protection, sandals, beach towel, yoga clothes, light comfy pajamas, personal toiletries. Kelea Costa Rica provides bath towels, all surf and sporting equipment as well as several spa products.

Note: Sansa Airlines only allows 25 lbs. of luggage per passenger.

:: Do I need a passport?
Yes, you need a current passport for at least 6 months past your travel date. No visa is necessary for US citizens.

:: What if I have never surfed before?
No problem! We'll start with the basics and you'll be riding waves by the end of the week.

:: Is there an age minimum?
Yes, guests must be 18 years or older to attend Kelea.
:: What is the weather like?
Costa Rica has two seasons: Rainy Season from May through October, and Dry Season from November through April. Kelea only operates during the dry season. Average temperatures are 70 degrees F (21 degrees C) at night and over 86 degrees F (30 degrees C) during the day.

:: What is the average water temperature? Do I need to bring a wetsuit?
No. The average water temperature is 80 degrees F (27 degrees C) so a wetsuit is not necessary. Kelea provides you with a rashguard for the week, but feel free to bring your own.

:: Is it safe to travel to Costa Rica alone?
Yes. Costa Rica is the safest country in Central America. Violent crime is not a big problem, but you should take precautions against theft Ė the same as you would in America or Europe. Donít flash money or valuables around or leave them visible in a car.
