“I just got back from my third trip to Kelea! My first trip was to Hawaii with a group of friends, and then I took a solo trip to Costa Rica in 2008. This most recent retreat, I took my close friend to Costa Rica. I keep coming back to Kelea because I just love the blend of adventure, relaxation, and exploration. I can’t get enough of the adventure aspect of it; it’s an active vacation. If you’re like me, you don't just want to sit by the pool and drink margaritas all day (that’s fun post-surf sessions, though!) Active women want to wake up in beautiful nature and get out there and explore, or try something new.
I’ve made life-long connections and friendships from Kelea, meeting and surfing with with other like-minded women.
Kelea is great even for the newbie surfers. With the surf instruction you get at Kelea, you’ll actually be able to get up and surf and then leave with the skills to go home and practice.
You’ll gain an activity that you’ll enjoy doing for the rest of your life.”

I chose to go on retreat to Kelea because I wanted an excellent adventure where I could bond with one of my best friends, meet new people, learn to surf, enjoy the beautiful landscapes of Costa Rica, relax, unwind, and decompress. All of these hopes were fulfilled and more!
I'd definitely recommend Kelea. Not only did Laura help me book my flights and reservations (especially when one of my flights was delayed and I had to miss my connecting flight and had NO idea what to do without Laura's amazing help), but she was also a great surf teacher and companion on the trip. She planned our days perfectly but also worked in a lot of free time so we could go out on our own adventures. She also introduced us to some of the best restaurants in the area and made sure that we were comfortable at all times.
The food was amazing, the people we met along the way were kind, we were able to relax and unwind after surfing days with massage and yoga, and enjoyed relaxing by the beautiful pool.

Kelea was a fantastic, stress-free vacation! I didn't have to worry about big things, like renting a surf board or finding the perfect break; or the little things, like groceries, cooking (the food was incredible!) or evening owning a rash guard (Kelea provides them). Laura goes above and beyond expectations to ensure that Kelea is a place where the only thing I had to worry about was sand in my surf wax! I'm definitely recommending it to all my friends...and planning another trip myself!

Going to Kelea Surf Spa this October, I didn’t really know what to expect and was a little nervous about trying something outside my comfort zone. The house and rooms were spacious, beautiful and relaxing. Laura was a very gracious host, attentive to all our needs and her team went above and beyond everyday. The meals were healthy, creative, and delicious. The best part was being on the water every day and learning to surf - it was a deeply fulfilling and rewarding experience.
